It is never really finished, so make sure to check it periodically
for updates. It is a good idea to check the calendar the night
before a scout event, to make sure that you know about any last
minute changes of plan.

Fishing and camping. We will be fishing on former Troop 11 parent
Carl Madsen's commercial fishing boat, the Riptide III. All fishing gear
is provided. We will meet at the church parking lot at 6:30am on Saturday.
The boat leaves the dock at 8am sharp, and returns
about 8 hours later. Afterwards, we will be camping in lean-tos
at Seton
Scout Reservation in Greenwich.
Bring a bag lunch to eat on the boat (lunch is also available for
purchase), sunblock, warm sweater and/or windbreaker to wear on the
boat, and overnight camping equipment appropriate for the season.
Cost is $35.
Permission slips must be
returned by Monday, September 20.

- Drinking water - prefer water bottles
to avoid frozen drinking tubes on camelbacks
- Waterproof (e.g. rubber) winter boots
- Sunglasses or ski goggles if desired
- High energy snacks (e.g., trail mix, granola)
For clothing, bring:
- Dress in layers
- No cotton
- Socks - preferably wool, with extra dry pairs
- Polypropylene long underwear
- Fleece and/or wool insulation layer
- Waterproof and windproof outer layer (shell)
- Hand cover - mittens preferred, with liners if desired
- Headgear - insulated hat, covering ears ... with scarf or
balaclava to cover face, neck
For sleeping gear, bring:
- Mummy-style sleeping bag, rated 15 degrees F or lower
- Consider sleeping bag liner, space blanket,
large plastic trashbag to slip over lower portion of sleeping bag
- Sleeping pad/mattress
- Stocking cap, scarf and/or balaclava to keep head warm
- Non-cotton warm sleep clothes
- Consider chemical handwarmers

Connecticut Yankee Council event, not a Troop 11 event, so
scouts or their parents are responsible for registering for and
traveling to this event on their own. The Council contact person

The notes about the College say:
The purpose of Merit Badge College is to provide Scouts with an
opportunity to receive instruction and earn merit badges in subjects
where a counselor may not be available through their units. Attendance
does not guarantee the award of the badge. All stated requirements
must be satisfied. Credit will be given only where a specific
individual requirement or project has been fulfilled.
